QuranTutor — Trust & Safety
Our Commitment
QuranTutor exists to make it possible for women and girls anywhere in the world to learn Quran from a verified female teacher, safely and without cost. Trust is the foundation of this platform, and this page explains exactly how we protect it — and what responsibilities remain with you as a teacher, student, or parent.
Who Can Use This Platform
QuranTutor is exclusively for female teachers and female students. No male teacher or male student may register, appear, or participate on this platform in any capacity. This is a deliberate, non-negotiable policy, enforced at registration and during every review.
How We Verify Teachers
Before any teacher’s profile becomes publicly visible, she must submit:
- A government-issued identity credential, reviewed privately by an administrator and never shown publicly
- A short voice-only introduction (audio, no video or photo), so students get a sense of her before contacting her
An administrator manually reviews both of these before approving a profile. No teacher appears in the directory without this review. Credential files are automatically deleted from our servers 30 days after review, regardless of outcome — we do not keep identity documents long-term.
What This Platform Does — and Does Not Do
QuranTutor is a free directory and introduction service. It is not an employer, agency, or intermediary for lessons. Specifically:
- We do not handle, process, or touch any payment between a teacher and a student. Fees and schedules are agreed directly between them.
- We do not host, record, or monitor lesson calls. Teachers and students arrange their own video call (such as Google Meet) outside this platform.
- We do not employ teachers, and no employment or contractual relationship exists between QuranTutor and any teacher or student.
- We do not guarantee the conduct, teaching quality, punctuality, or outcome of any lesson.
Because lessons happen entirely off-platform, both teachers and students are responsible for exercising their own judgment once initial contact is made.
Safety Guidelines for Students and Parents
- For a minor student, a parent or guardian should be aware of, and where possible present for, lesson calls — especially in the first few sessions.
- Keep all communication focused on Quran teaching. There is no legitimate reason for a teacher to request personal contact details beyond what is needed to share a meeting link.
- Do not share financial information, home address, or other sensitive personal details with a teacher beyond what is necessary.
- Trust your instincts. If something about an interaction feels wrong, stop the conversation and report it immediately.
Reporting a Concern
Every public teacher profile has a “Report this profile” link. Reports are sent directly and privately to our administrators for review — they are never visible publicly, and the teacher is not automatically notified that a report was filed. Based on a report, a profile may be suspended (hidden from the public directory) pending review, and reinstated or permanently removed depending on the outcome.
If you believe a situation involves immediate danger to a child or any person, please also contact your local authorities — this platform is not a substitute for emergency services.
Limitation of Liability
QuranTutor is provided as a free, donation-funded service, operated on a best-effort basis. While we take verification seriously, we cannot guarantee the behavior of any individual using the platform. By using QuranTutor, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety during any interaction or lesson arranged through it, and that the platform’s administrators are not liable for conduct, disputes, or outcomes arising from those interactions.
Questions or Concerns
