QuranTutor — Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what information QuranTutor collects, why, how it is protected, and the rights you have over it. QuranTutor is a free, donation-supported platform connecting female Quran teachers with female students, and we collect only what is necessary to operate it safely.
Information We Collect
From teachers registering:
- Public display name (shown on her profile)
- Full legal name (private — used only for identity verification, never shown publicly)
- Email address (for account communication and approval notices)
- An identity credential document (private, admin-reviewed only, automatically deleted 30 days after review)
- A link to a voice-only introduction, hosted externally on SoundCloud or Google Drive (shown publicly on her approved profile)
- Teaching subjects, languages, availability, and fee information she chooses to list
From students, parents, and visitors:
- No account or registration is required to browse the teacher directory
- If you use the “Report this profile” form, we collect the details you provide in that report
- If you submit the “I’ve sent a donation” notice, we collect only what you choose to include in that message
What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or store payment card numbers, bank login details, lesson call recordings, or the content of conversations between teachers and students — these happen entirely outside the platform.
Cookies We Use
- A language-preference cookie, so your chosen language (English/Urdu/Arabic) is remembered as you browse
- A short-lived technical cookie used to confirm a genuine request before revealing bank donation details, preventing automated scraping of that information
- No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used on this platform
How Your Information Is Used
Teacher information is used solely to verify identity, display an approved public profile, and communicate with the teacher about her application or listing. Report information is used solely to investigate and act on the concern raised. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data Security
Identity credential uploads are stored in a directory that is technically locked down and inaccessible by direct web request. Only administrators with a dedicated review permission can access this content, and credential files are automatically deleted 30 days after review regardless of outcome.
Third-Party Services
Voice introductions are hosted externally on SoundCloud or Google Drive, and lesson video calls typically take place on services such as Google Meet. These third-party services have their own privacy policies and terms, which are outside QuranTutor’s control — we recommend reviewing them separately.
Your Rights
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or request that it be deleted, by contacting the site administrator. Teacher profile data, once a request is verified, is handled in line with standard data-export and data-erasure practices.
Children’s Privacy
This platform is intended to be used by minors only with the awareness and, where possible, involvement of a parent or guardian, particularly regarding any lesson communication. We do not knowingly collect more information from a minor than is necessary to arrange a lesson introduction.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time as the platform grows. The “Last updated” date below will reflect the most recent revision.
